"Lorraine came to speak at a Clifford Chance London partner offsite and enthralled the audience with her explanation of her success at Talkback Thames and the BBC and how to engender change in a large organisation. Lorraine’s sharing of her secrets to success was not only hugely enjoyable but also realistic and easy to emulate. I couldn’t recommend Lorraine highly enough. Thank you.”
"Lorraine joined us for our Decision Intelligence summit, AltitudeX, to talk about the decisions that have shaped her career in the broadcast industry. She absolutely blew us away! From lessons learned during an undercover stint in Russia to heading up the Royal Foundation, her session was captivating – definitely one of the highlights of the day!"
"Right from the very start Lorraine captivated our audience with her mesmerising charisma and energy. Her content took a leadership theme, with a clear emphasis on her ability to empathise, empower and inspire throughout her career. Lorraine was true pleasure to work with and we would be over the moon to work together again.”
Lorraine was extremely well received and a very engaging and lively speaker. The phrase ‘inspired by Lorraine’ has been shared when people were talking about things they can change/leaders they can be. Comments from our poll at the end of the day included: “Exceptionally inspiring” “She is a radiator, high energy and full of life and able to tackle stuff head on.”
Lorraine is quite simply inspirational; she is that perfect blend of honest, accessible and full of insight. Lorraine comes alive as much in virtual environments as she does on stage. At the start of lockdown Lorraine delivered one of our most highly attended “industry greats” masterclasses to TV freelancers who were reeling from the impact of Covid-19. Lorraine was exactly the tonic they needed – both reassuring and aspirational. “I was about to give up” said one participant “but Lorraine has totally given me the confidence and inspiration to continue.”
Lorraine is a hugely engaging and entertaining virtual speaker with great advice to share from her wealth of experience as a successful leader in the content industry. As a virtual speaker, she is incredibly vivacious whilst still being able to pack a punch in terms of leadership lessons. Wit, wisdom and wonderful stories - an hour is not enough - book her for a series!
As CEO of the RTS over the last three years, I have been lucky enough to have Lorraine contribute a great deal to some of the Royal Television Society’s activities.
Specifically, last year in December, Lorraine gave the RTS London Christmas Lecture to a packed audience.
Lorraine made some serious points – but illustrated them with candid and witty anecdotes from her career – which has been truly remarkable. Lorraine’s great brain, combined with a good empathy with people and a practical and responsive decision making made for an entertaining – but also very insightful speech.
Lorraine has also chaired a number of very high profile sessions for the Royal Television Society. Lorraine has a great stage presence, the experience and brain power to ask the searching questions of very senior executives, and the peer respect from them of having held very senior positions herself. Lorraine has chaired a number of President/CEO panels at RTS Cambridge – discussing strategic priorities and the future of their businesses. In addition, Lorraine has chaired other panels dealing with policy in public service broadcasting, the creative and business challenges of running television production, and the position of the UK in a global market.
I booked Lorraine Heggessey to speak at a career networking event for 100 senior women at Shell, whilst I was Head of Global Diversity Strategy & Planning for Shell in 2004. Lorraine was then Controller of BBC1 and was asked to draw on her own career experiences to provide insight and advice to the women in the audience which would help them navigate their own careers in corporate life.
Lorraine was a highly engaging speaker who kept her audience with her from beginning to end. Her seemingly spontaneous style belied the preparation that clearly went into what she said- her anecdotes and examples hung together well and she constantly brought her audience back to the main theme, whilst remaining entertaining.
She managed to draw out the similarities for women of operating in two seemingly different worlds. Lorraine has an ability to get to the heart of the issue on which she is speaking and makes her delivery very relevant to her audience.
(Speech for Shell)Your session went down very well with the participants with 92% rating it as either excellent or good – the best scoring of all of the speaker sessions. Some verbatim comments were: –
“I found Lorraine Heggessey’s perspectives on leadership challenges very inspiring – it is great to hear from those outside health so that you don’t fall into the trap of thinking ‘it’s different for us’ – there are clear parallels and lessons to be learned.”
“…excellent, great style and delivery, liked the opportunity to discuss.”
I’m sure that I will be in touch in the future and I have recommended you to a couple of people who are looking for speaker input.
Lorraine has spoken to a range of our blue chip audiences from small intimate settings to set piece speeches from the stage. She has a first class pedigree and draws very astutely on her experiences to craft intelligent and compelling presentations. She recently did a speech for us called The X Factor of Leadership. It was brilliant. A perfect mix of leadership insights, honesty about the challenges of getting to the top in a tough industry and some funny and engaging showbiz anecdotes. The audience loved it. I highly recommend Lorraine as a speaker and we will certainly be booking her again for our top clients.
Lorraine is a pleasure to work with - collaborative and highly professional. She made sure that she understood the brief and worked with us to understand what our objectives were from the event. What we got was a lively and engaging interview that helped Jeremy get across what he wanted to say to an important audience but in a way that felt genuinely conversational and not overly staged - quite a skill for Lorraine to pull off. Just as importantly, both Jeremy and I enjoyed working with her. I'd recommend Lorraine without hesitation to others.
RTS London was absolutely delighted to host you for their Christmas lecture 2015. Your easy presentational style, full of amusing anecdotes yet not shying away from the big industry issues, was a perfect festive offering for all those with an interest in the world of television as it moves into a new era. Thank you for a sparkling evening
Brilliant and engaging speaker, really nailed the points about leadership. All delegates enjoyed Lorraine’s speech. A lot of humour and honesty in her style too, which worked brilliantly.
